For safety reasons we build a watertight area for the rudderstock. So, the whole rudder assembly is in a watertight compartment with screw deck plate for inspection which has a full waterproof bulkhead especially made for separating this area from the rest of the boat. And also we put one bulkhead between the engine room and aft sleeping area or starboard bunk which is another watertight barrier, and we do the same with the port side near the lazarette area storage. So any penetration of water into the aft end of the boat is limited to the engine room.
